(1) Regardless of what is written in the prevailing law, foreign citizens of Nepali origin may purchase land or other property of a specified area for themselves or their family in order to settle in Nepal.

(2) According to sub-section (1) the property purchased by a foreign citizen of Nepali origin can be sold subject to the prevailing law. If there is property in Nepal, such property will be acquired if the owner is a foreign citizen of Nepali origin who has an identity card, and if there is no such owner, it will be according to the prevailing law.
